~The Ancient Art of Birth & Mothering~
We are a circle of mothers and children, where women becoming mothers, new mothers, and experienced mothers, can share the challenges, struggles, and JOY of birth and being a mother !
Mosaic Mothering Circle meets at 7p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month in members homes.
Discussion topics for the next series of meetings are as follows:
1. The Joy of Pregnancy and Birth ~
A discussion of the ups and downs of emotions, decreased energy levels, and the importance of good nutrition throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. We will focus on the nine months of preparation for birth in a holistic way that encompasses the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of pregnancy. We will also be looking at birth as the natural process it is intended to be., exploring cultural influences on birth, sharing birth stories and visualizing the births we have fantasized.
2. The Joy of Birth and Breastfeeding ~
Exploring the beautiful bond between mother and child that begins in pregnancy, blooms with birth and blossoms during breastfeeding. A time for sharing birth and breastfeeding experiences, and encouraging one another. We will discuss how birth impacts the newborn, the importance of early breastfeeding, night time needs, and the mechanics of nursing and overcoming difficulties that can arise.
3. Joyful Toddlers; Breastfeeding and Beyond ~
An encouraging look at the early years of childhood and the adventure of meeting their growing needs. We will discuss ways to lovingly deal with unacceptable behavior as well as dealing with our own feelings about punishment and rewards. We will also explore nutrition, changing night time needs, early education and activities that nurture creativity, imagination, and natural curiosity.
4. Joy Beyond Toddlerhood; Education, Imagination, and Taking Children Seriously ~
Developing practical ways to encourage gentle and loving attitudes in our children. Finding respectful ways to deal with unacceptable behavior. Sharing ideas for fostering creativity and imagination as well as nurturing and supporting our children's interests and passions. Alternative schools, Home Education, and developing lasting bonds through the teen years will also be discussed.
