Little Lost Letter C

Once there was a letter
Who called himself a 'C'
And acting scared and cranky, decided to follow me.

I walked no more alone those streets,
Stunned by this strange day
When suddenly my ear had heard
A thing begin to say...

“My! Oh my! What a horrible day!
Please! Please! Please go and show me the way!”

“The way to where?”
I stopped and starred.
“Your very sad and awfully scared!
Is there a problem you’ve got for me?
Your very strange from what I can see!”

“I’m displaced! I’m displaced! What a horrible disgrace!
I seem to be removed from the alphabet race!”

“Well I can’t help you”. I began to retort.
I’m illiterate. I know nothing of the sort!”

Then next I saw were two saddened eyes,
And next I heard were these unbearable cries!

“Oh what am I to do?
I feel so terribly unhappy, sad and blue!
I will no more know where I belong
I’ll resume here and sing a sad, sad song.”

“No stop! Please!” I began to say.
“I will help you then to find your way.
But one condition stands alone,
What have you to offer if I find your home?

“I will offer a single magnificent power.
Stronger and more powerful than any tower.”

“Well that sounds well.” I said.
“Come and let's get on our way.
Better get this done by the end of the day!”

We asked and we bothered many on the street
With a list of options, we continued on our feet.

We entered a bookshop, dark and gloom
And found ourselves in quite a large room.

A man with hairs of gray and short of play
Stumbled upon us with something to say.

“Oh” He cried, looking at poor “C”.
“This is not where you should be!”

“No it isn’t! I’ve been lost all day!
Please! Please! Please go and show me the way!”

And the old man said…

“The way is simple and can be done with ease,
Open this book and read it if you please.”

“Yes! But I have a gift for my friend before I say
good-bye.
With this gift your power will help your fly.
Take this book after I fall in
And your magnificent power will begin!”

And saying good-bye
He withdrew a sigh
“I’ll miss you so much, but
I’ll come back to say hi!”

“It’s been nice meeting you.” I said.
“I’m sorry my help came with a cost,
But please, next time, just don’t get lost!”

“Now take this book
And take a good look
And your magnificent power will come out of the book.”

And off he went,
I was sad, to an extent
But also curious to see,
What my power would be!

I took the book
And gave a good look
And what came to be were the letters “C’s”

Then came A, B, D, E, F and G
And all the rest came at its best
And a magnificent power did come to be!

I found my friend to be considerate
As I became wonderfully LITERATE!!!
