Grief

I dreamt of you again last night.
On that beach at dusk
we sat close,
listening to the ocean
and watching the sky gulping ermine wisps
into an empty darkness.

Woken by a fly
drinking from my lip.
I flicked it off
then the pain hit me.
I remembered you were gone.

I'm so drained now-
by your gravestone.
My head lolls
like a crispy duck in Chinatown.
