M113A1
The M113A1 is currently Canada's primary APC. Developed in the 1950s, Canada purchased about 1200 beginning in the mid-1960s. It has a crew of 2 and can hold a section of 11 infantry soldiers, who use a ramp with a crew door. The crew commander has a .50 calibre MG and the vehicle is fully amphibious. There are numerous combat support variants in service with the Canadian army.
Once the new Canadian APCs are delivered, the M113A1 will be refurbished to extend its life and transfered from the F echelon to serve exclusively in combat support roles.
