The fourth Mortal Kombat
game, Mortal Kombat 4, has been released on PC, Playstation,
Nintendo Game Boy and Nintendo 64 :: |

The characters in the game (a total of 21, 16 playable,
2 not-playable and 3 secret, on pc) are now made more 3d
then in the past MK-games and are also more detailed. The
sorylines of the characters might be just as great as in
the last 2 games, but I think the names of the new characters
could be better. The overall storyline is still great. The
playability of the characters is also made better then in
the first three games. The speed of the game has been perfectionized,
and I think it's perfect now (little slower makes it more
realistic) ::

The player of the game has again much
more freedom in the game then in the past games, which also
makes the game better to play. The moves of the characters
are slighly better, also because of the 3d in them. (I'am
glad the friendships and babalities have disappeard). There
are also a couple of new game-modes in the game; Team, Endurance,
Tournament and practice :: |

The
Team mode gives you the possibility to play with a team
of fighters (in arcade you can play 2 on 2 which is also
a team, only it has 2 players in the team). The Endurance
modes has a couple of options to play against a number of
fighters without getting your health back after each fight
(up to you if you like this). The Tournament mode lets you
create your own MK-tournament and even allows you to view
the computer-players fight. And the practice mode allows
you to practice without getting hurt and even shows you
the keys you pressed. In prectice mode you can also view
the endings of the players with which you defeated the game
in the arcade mode. The four attack possibilities (High
punch, Low punch, High kick and Low kick) are still the
same as in the first two games, however the characters can
now also step in- and out, which allows the user to evade
special attacks (running is also still possible, and is
still great to use). I don't really think these extra moves
did much to improve the game-play. As for the difficulties
in the game, they are balanced out great. You can easily
play from very easy to very hard, without getting stuck
in the game at some point because the difficulty gets much
harder at some point. The graphics of the game are again
great, 3d, and are good for the MK-atmosphere in the game.
Not only the characters, which still are great (and different
from each other), but also the backgrounds are once again
very good and in 3d. The sounds in the game, just like in
the second game, is great
