The second Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 2, has been
released on PC, Nintendo Game Boy, Super Nintendo, Sega
Game Gear and Sega Genesis. The characters in the game (a
total of 16, 12 playable, 2 not-playable and 2 secret on
pc) are again made pretty well. In this second Mortal Kombat
game, there are not only more characters to choose from,
but theit storylines are also much more detailed, and are
of much more quality. I can say the same for the overall
storyline :: |

Although the characters in the game (a total of 10, 7 playable,
2 not-playable and one secret on pc) have been created pretty
well, their storylines however are not detailed enough.
This is also the problem with the overall storyline ::

The playability of the characters
is much better then in the first game. The speed of the
game is faster, and I think this speed is perfect. The player
of the game has now much more freedom in the game, but I
think it could still be better. The moves of the characters,
have been expanded with much more special moves and finishing
moves (but I think friendship and babalities are not so
great, it can ruin the MK-atmosphere) .
The four attack
possibilities (High punch, Low punch, High kick and Low
kick) are still the same as in the first game and are together
with the better gamespeed great for the strategy in the
game. As for the difficulties in the game, they are balanced
out worse then in the first game. I you want to set the
difficulty harder because you win too easy from the normal
characters, then Kintaro (before Shao Kahn) becomes often
too difficult. And also it's easy to find "cheating" ways
in the game to easily defeat all normal characters :: |

The graphics
of the game are again great and are good for the MK-atmosphere
in the game. Not only the characters, which still are great
(and different from each other), but also the backgrounds
have been greatly advanced. The backgrounds may not be 3D,
but they still look enough 3D to make them great. It's also
very clear that the gore-level of the game has been increased,
the fatalities are not only of more originality, but also
of more blood. The sound in the game, just like in the first
game, is great. The music has only became better, because
of the game supporting better sound-carts then the first
game. And the same can be told about the other sounds in
the game, which are not only better, but also there are
much more ::
