The first Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 1, has been
released on PC, Nintendo Game Boy, Super Nintendo (unofficially
on the NES), Sega Game Gear and Sega Genesis :: |
|
|
| ::
Although the characters in the game (a total of 10, 7 playable,
2 not-playable and one secret on pc) have been created pretty
well, their storylines however are not detailed enough.
This is also the problem with the overall storyline ::

|
| ::
The playability of the characters is fair, however the speed
of the game is pretty slow. The characters moves are too
rusty to give the player a good freedom of movement in the
game. The moves of the characters, on the other side, are
pretty good. The four attack possibilities (High punch,
Low punch, High kick and Low kick) are (in combination with
the other keys) enough enough to create a good stratigy
in the game. And in addition to that, the special moves
and fatalities, give a good MK-atmosphere to the game. As
for the difficulties in the game, they are balanced out
real good and let the player perfectly increase in difficulty.
However I think that there could be a couple more difficulty
levels with a difficulty harder then "Very Hard", because
when you plays the game often, this difficulty level becomes
easy very soon :: |

|
::
The graphics of the game also
helped greatly in creating the MK-atmosphere in the game.
Each character is very different from another, not only
because of the special moves, but also the graphics (the
names are great too). This makes it easier for the player
to choose his own favourite character. As for the graphics
of the backgrounds in the game, they really seem a part
of the battle when you play the game. This eliminates the
feeling of fighting before a big picture. The sound of the,
again, is also very important for the good MK-atmosphere.
The ancient-like music you hear when playing give you this
atmosphere, together with the other sounds ::
