Moving on

The year started and I had every intention to step up my paddling. Dom C kicked my arse and got me to go with him and Sparky to Val Sesia. This turned into the hardest paddling I have done for over a decade and I took the biggest kicking I have ever taken. I really wanted to get into the Sorba canyon as it would have left me making the real decision as whether to paddle wood mill falls or not. I came away from the trip more focussed and it feels as though I have made a final separation from my old style of paddling. Sure old school rocks and is funny at times but styling and driving through sections is where it is at now. Paddling with UWE in France was fun and hard work at times. The months since the summer have blazed by, lots of upheaval at home and very sadly losing several paddling friends to the river. My Brother has moved home from Spain, Jen has a job in Wales and my little Sis is getting things sorted in her life. Paddling is not always about the river it is about you and the people you paddle with.
