So, here's this hard rock band Tool. What do I think? Hmm... Well, I know my friend Josh is nuts for em', and he usually goes for good music so I'll take his word for it that they are just as amazing as he says. I myself do like Tool, but don't really follow or listen to them much. So, I would first describe them as a hard rock band but as with all the other bands here, they contain something that keeps them from being so blatently categorized into one little niche. From what I can tell, they are the kind of band that origionates things from riffs or musical "catch phrases" aka..."hooks". So, the songs seem to suck you in by the combination of hooks and pretty much just the "wondering what the hell is that wonderful loud rockin music I hear" appeal of it? Maynard's soft and tender voice seems to be a a strange combination with the pulsing drums and crunching guitars, but proves to be a perfect foil for the appearant aggression in most of the music. The ideas in the songs seem to be alot about what one of their messages is, freedom from rules and restrictions and having the right to think however you want. So children, revolt...! --but think about what you are doing and be intelligent is what I think they are saying. If I'm wrong, then oh well, and you may continue just bouncing and bashing about aimlessly as you were children. So Josh, you think maybe I've done this group justice with my description? If not, you can do one of two things: Cry about it and kiss my arse, or tell me what I'm missing and fix it yourself! So, everyone else, go check out this band and take the risk of listening to music that may actually make you think? *Gufaw*... What a novel idea... (O:,`
