Seeing the old pictures of the depot on the website brings back fond memories of my boyhood. As a child back in the mid 40's to early 50's I would leave La Crosse (Wisc.) by myself in a passenger train pulled by a steam locomotive & head for Morrisonville to spend part of my summer vacation with my Grandmother Morrison & my Morrison & Schweb cousins. I can remember "hanging out" in & around the depot & I believe I carved my initials somewhere on the ticket booth. On the journey in the open windowed passenger cars the smoke & soot would come flying in the windows. I still cherish the sights & sounds from those days & the trip on the train which I looked forward to all year.
