| Congratulations to Fund Raiser co-chairs Sprunt Hill and Tommy Turner on an outstanding fund raiser. The first Rotary Cabin Fever Golf Tournament, Valentines Dinner and Dance was a huge success. Special thanks to Buddy's Jewelry for tournament trophies and prizes, Andy's Cheeseburgers and Cheesesteakes, for a terrific lunch and Carolina Turkey for sponsoring the social. Kevin Kornegay and the staff of Olivers Railroad Grille are to be commended for their excellent social and dinner catering. Rotary International District 7720 Area 7 Mid-Year Assembly was held on January 22 in Greenville NC. Assistant District Governor Cary Pelt encouraged clubs to complete achievements to qualify for the 2001-2002 Presidential Citation by April. Club members Richard Bounds, Patti O'Donoghue, and Ed Bass were also present. Club representatives shared their "Good Ideas" for projects. Membership Growth is a major goal for Rotary this year. The Mount Olive Rotary Club has added eight new members this year thanks to the good work of sponsoring rotarians. Again we welcome Coy Brock, Neal Dennis, Charles Ivey, Ellen Jordan, Kenny Moore, Denise O'Toole, DeWayne Parvin, and Chris Worth as new Club members. Foundation Giving is another major goal for Rotary this year. The Mount Olive Rotary Club currently ranks 7th in District 7720 in Foundatio giving. All Club members are encouraged to become Sustaining Members with an annual donation of $100 or more to the Foundation. District Conference will be held May 2-5 at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsvill Beach. |
