Back in the day when I was in first year nursing, we were studying for a test on head and neck examinations. On this test was a part about the thyroid and surrounding structures, which we were supposed to identify through palpation. As you may notice, most of the structures end with "oid." The one that is not shown on this diagram is the isthmus of the thyroid gland (it's the little pointy bit between the two lobes of the thyroid). Anyway, as I was palpating one of my classmates throat, I said, "there's the thyroid, and the cricoid, and the isthmoid," to which my friend replied, "Good one, Mornoid." Thus, the name came about, and now it's my URL. The End |
