Spying | Report | Me Love You Long Time

Spying
Finally, in the fourth hour of hiding behind the southern wall of Maeyja's room, Mernak heard something through the crystal glass he had set against the wall. He waited with breath held as he heard the door to her chamber creak open. A familiar voice spoke up.
"So Maeyja, what did you need to speak with me about?" came Lord Cyras' voice through the glass. "I trust everything is going well with your assignment?"
"Yes Milord, everything is going fine. However I was attacked the other day by an assassin," she told him. "I was wondering if you could look into that for me."
'It had WORKED,' Mernak thought gleefully to himself. The assassin he sent in to fail had scared her enough to get her to contact Cyras. Mernak quickly cleared his mind so as not to alert Cyras he was in the hidden chamber. The conversation continued.
"You're personal safety only matters to me as long as you are valuable. Are you in his good graces yet? You surely have had enough time."
“Yes, yes Milord! I have eaten with him and he seems to like me very much. I must say, though, that I would be better able to serve you if you would inform me about what kind of information you need."
"Never mind that. Do everything you can to make him fall in love with you. If you should fail, your life is forfeit. Do you understand me?" Cyras snarled.
Mernak heard the door slam, and breathed a little more easily. With the mood Cyras was in, he wouldnt be able to hear a mind unless he was looking for it. He left Maeyja to her own devices and stepped out of the room through the trap door in the floor. Wandering off down his secret little hallway, he hummed to himself. 'Raife is going to be VERY happy. Maybe he'll even let me kill someone for this,' he mused.

Reports
Mernak looked up from his reports as he heard a light rap on his door. He loosened dagger sheathed in his right sleeve, just in case, and went to open the door. "Who is it?" he called softly, not wanting to call undue attention to his visitor.
"Raife," came the reply through the door. Mernak lifted the latch and Raife stepped in.
Without preamble, Mernak began his report. "Milord, I overheard them speaking.
She has been placed in our hall to make you fall in love with her. Lord Cyras was extremely adamant on this point. If she fails she will die."
"Interesting. Very interesting. And this was all he said?" Raife asked.
"Yes, that was all. Would you like me to have her tailed, Milord?"
"No, Mernak. I will not chance Cyras finding your informant. However, I do have another job I think will be more to you liking. I want you to go to Yar Nadrak, and assassinate the Guardian Ambassador to buy us some time in negotiations with the Nadraks. Leave as soon as possible."
Mernak's grinned wolfishly. Now here was something he would enjoy immensely. "I shall leave at once Milord," Mernak said and immediately began gathering the necessary things.
Raife chuckled to himself as he walked out of Mernak's room. If there was one thing Mernak knew, it was killing people. The Guardian ambassador was living on borrowed time.

Me Love You Long Time
Infiltrating the palace in Yar Nadrak had been incredibly easy. Mernak had shown up at the back door to the kitchens in almost presentable clothes, and had been taken in as a servant the next day. The palace had been shorthanded for two weeks now because Mernak had killed two of the servants and disposed of the bodies and also kidnapped any other applicants, so the staff was desperate for anybody they could get to work for them.
In the past few days of his service to King Drosta, some disturbing news had fallen into his lap through the gossip chain that was common among all servants, anywhere. The ambassador was a sorceror. This had thrown a wrench into his plans for a few days, but he had figured out how to get around it.
He now sat in his small, shared quarters staring out the window, waiting for it to get dark and the rustlings that accompanied the process of getting ready for the night's rest to cease.
Finally, the sun set and Mernak waited until his roomates breathing pattern slowed. Calmy, he walked over to the man’s bed and using his thumb, crushed the man's windpipe and held him still until his thrashing ceased. Then he changed into his darkest clothing, slipped out the door, and padded silently down the hall. He had learned two nights before, in his explorations of the palace, that the ambassador was staying on the second floor in the west wing. He also knew the man would just be getting to sleep and be most groggy at this point. He grinned to himself.
'We have a fun night ahead of us, don’t we now?' he thought to himself.

As he reached the ambassador's door, he cleared his mind of all thoughts not wanting to alert the man. He picked the lock while concentrating on the many ways he had been taught to fold laundry, as if he were a servant.
Mernak opened the door and padded silently across the room to the man’s bed. He stood still as his eyes adjusted to the tiny amount of light flickering in through the window. When he was sure the man he wanted was indeed lying asleep in front of him, he drew a six inch stiletto out of his boot and prepared to strike. With one quick motion, he stabbed the man through the eye, and then swirled the stiletto around destroying the man’s brain to make sure he was indeed dead. Then he padded back out into the hallway and snuck out of the castle. The next day, he was miles away, on his way back to Rak Cthol. He would be thought murdered and missing by the staff and no one would ever consider him the guilty party. No one EVER considered a Thull the guilty party in a political murder. They were too stupid. He grinned to himself as he rode his donkey down the road. Too stupid indeed.
