Journey Out of Mormonism-- Desiree continued ------After the Temple Trip----- Since the temple trip, I have encountered more opposition with the LDS religion. My good friend Bobi is questioning the church, my non LDS friends are questioning the church. I have started participating in a Bible study with some of my friends. No one attacks the Mormon church, but questions do get brought up and I find myself trying to come up with good answers to logical questions. I can't. All of a sudden "my" church is not so defendable. I don't really understand what is happening. I start reading an "anti-mormon" book and it raises doubts. The desire to "not give in to these people who are trying to leaed me astray, mounts up. I don't read the book thouroughly and put it aside. I am just not going to succumb to all of this. I do share what I know with Bobi, and it encourages her doubts and questions. Remember, at this point, I am still defending this church. A few weeks later Bobi and I go somewhere where a lady catches on that I am Mormon. She hands me a tract. I open it up, glance, close it and look at her as she is speaking. I am thinking in my head..."Who is she to criticize my church?" and I harden my heart and close my mind. Once out the door I turn to Bobi and exclaim "How dare she criticize our church?" and a lot more along the same lines. As we are sitting in Bobi's car, I read "the god of the Mormon church is not the God of the Bible." Oh my gosh, what have I done? I read further and understand what they are saying. My eyes have been opened. I know who I thought I was praying to, and their information shows me that the god of mormonism is not the God of the Bible. I am appalled! I read further. Mormon doctrine teaches of multiple gods. I had seen reference to becoming "god like" but I never dreamed what the leaders of the LDS church meant, was that men may become gods. I can not agree with this at all!! I came home , went to the one "ex-mormon" site that I knew and started reading about the Mormon church, it's leaders, and it's doctrine. I can not be a part of a church that teaches and believes this garbage. There is so much here that once a member reads it, they can't possibly legitimize this in their minds. It is at this time that I realize what I recognized before. It all makes sense now. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a cult. Joseph Smith is not a prophet. I do not believe that Brigham Young is a prophet. I do not know enough of the other prophets that I can make any decisions regarding them. But, I do know that since Joseph Smith is not a prophet of God, this church is man made, not God made and therefore all the doctrine and rituals and ceremonies are all man made. I had a hard time discrediting my belief that the Book of Mormon is true until I found in an Ensign the verse in Mosiah 5:7. It states here that we "become children OF Christ, His sons and daughters." I hurriedly looked in the Book of Mormon and found that the Ensign reference was not a typo. Let me share this with you. In Ephesians 1:4-5 it clearly states that we are "children of God, THRU Jesus Christ". That is enough for me. The Book of Mormon is man made by Joseph Smith. I also later found how Joseph Smith copied Isaiah into 2nd Nephi. If you read 2 Nephi 12:9 and compare it to Isaiah 2:9, you will see how Joseph Smith copied it and corrected it, out of context to the entire story being told. It is too obvious:
2 Nephi 12:9 reads: "And the mean man boweth not down, and the great man humbleth himself not: therefore forgive them not."
Isaiah 2:9 reads: "And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not."
COMPARE!
Do you see how Joseph Smith "corrected" the Bible? He added the word "not" two times in 2 Nephi, totally changing the meaning of the verses. Now, Please read verse 8 of either book......see below:
Isaiah 2:8-9 reads: 8- "Their land is falso full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:" 9- "And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not."
There is no way any Mormon can explain this "error" away. It isn't a typo and Joseph Smith should NOT have corrected this verse. Clearly we can see that God said to not forgive the men who worship idols and works made by their own hands. When you add the word "not" as Joseph Smith did, the verse would then say that God would not want us to forgive them for NOT bowing down to idols and their works. What do you think God meant to say?
Anyway, this is what happened to me. Since then, I have sent off two exit letters which have either been denied or ignored. I have no interest to return to the LDS church and no amount of harrassment (which I have been getting by e-mail, mail, phone, and in public) is going to bring me back. I am in the process of sending a 3rd letter demanding my name and my 2 children's names removed from their rolls. I attend a Christian Church and I sure have learned a lot and have grown a lot closer to God, the God of the Bible, Abraham, Moses, Noah..... I am no longer suicidal or depressed, and I feel that my life has totally changed now that I am seeking God and not working on "my works" to get to heaven. My children are happier, my home is happier. We are finally free of the bondage of Mormonism. -----Desiree, Mormon No More UPDATE: I received an official letter in August of 2000, dated July 26, 2000, that said that the names of my children and myself have been removed from the rolls of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
