Characters: Violet, Klaus, Sunny, Count Olaf, Count Olaf's troupe, various relatives and other aquantinces.
This series is a bit simple, but it's good for a quick read. It's mostly about three orphaned children whose parents died in a fire. They are first given to Count Olaf, who tries various plots to get the fortune their parents left them. After one of his attempts, the orphans are moved to another relative's house. Count Olaf persues them, relative after relative, determined to get their fortune one way or another. The orphans discover that their parents belonged to a strange club. As they try to avoid Olaf, they now are also trying to find more information about this odd group.

Well, since no one seems to be sending in comments, I shall! This series is very good. However, they (the books) get weirder and weirder as the series goes on. Snicket's brain seems to be running low on ideas if you ask me.

I'm sure you've all heard of the movie of this series. It doesn't really follow the book...I would have liked it...but I'd read the books. I have this thing about movies having to follow books at least somewhat, so I was forced to not like it.
