| Review submitted by bravepandagirl Rating: ***** The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale is a really great book. This is the first of her published works, but she has been writing unpublished stories since she was ten. Since she wrote The Goose Girl she has also written its sequel, Enna Burning, and Princess Academy. All her books fall under the young-adult fantasy genre and were published in the 2000s. Its a good length, at 383 pages long. The plot has enough adventure and romance to keep all ages and interests satisfied. In this exciting book, a girls title of crown princess is stolen by one of her ladies in waiting. Forced to live as the goose girl, tending the kings geese, will she ever be able to prove her true identity? Ani, the main character, is a shy quite type of person that is able to grow through her experiences and adventures. Anis main enemy, Selia, is a proud, power hungry girl, but with some weaknesses as well. Hale is able to make all her characters seem real and alive by giving them both good and bad traits. The story takes place in two neighboring kingdoms, Kildenree and Bayern. They are so vividly described, that the reader feels as if they are actually there. This book is especially good for teens looking for a fairytale to enjoy, but almost any audience with an appetite for adventure and romance would enjoy it. Dont miss The Goose Girl and well as other great books by Shannon Hale. |

| Review submitted by: bookworm_4816 Rating:***** (I would give it 100 if I could) The Goose Girl is a retelling of a little-know fairy tale (called the Goose Girl) by the Brothers Grimm. Fantasy nuts like me, The Goose Girl is the book you've been looking for! This book is Number 1 on my extremly lengthy list of extremely good books. I won't spoil the plot for you; all I can say is that it's really good (and much better than the Brothers Grimm version). It sticks pretty close to the original plot, except it makes much more sense. One major plus is that this book is actually written by an LDS author, so there's no profanity or not-so-good stuff. The book is almost 400 pages and is slightly slow at starting, but just keep reading! This is NOT a book you want to miss out on. I was sad when it was finished; not because it was a sad book, but because I wished it wasn't over! I absolutely LOVE The Goose Girl, and so does everyone else I know that's read it, so I can pretty much guarantee that you'll love it too! |
