Coming from an actors' family, Moritz Bleibtreu (born 1971) studied at drama schools in Paris, Rome and New York. He began his career in 1992 as a theatre actor in Hamburg, followed by numerous roles in television productions. His performance in Rainer Kaufmann's "Talk of the Town" (1995) gained him recognition as a great new talent. Since his appearance in the German box-office hit "Knocking at Heaven's Door"(1997), for which he received both the Ernst Lubitsch Prize and the German Film Award as Best Supporting Actor, Moritz Bleibtreu has become one of the most successful movie stars of modern German cinema.
He gained international fame as Manni in Tom Tykwer's hit "Run Lola Run" (1998). In close succession Moritz Bleibtreu appeared in Bakhtiar Khudoinazarov's "Luna Papa" (1999) and Fatih Akin's "In July" (2000), for which he received the German Film Award for best leading actor. In 2001 he played leading roles in Oliver Hirschbiegel's thriller"The Experiment; Christian Z�bert's directorial debut "Lammbock", and with Harvey Keitel in "Taking Sides" by Oscar-winning director Istvan Szabo.
