| Film List. Some even good. | |||||||||
| Movie: From Hell Genre: Horror/Suspense Noteable Cast/Crew: Johnny Depp IC Era/Year: 1888 (London) Notes: As far as films set in the Victorian Age go, its fucking great. As far as "Jack the Ripper" movies go, it fucking sucks. Great sets, costumes and its reasonably well acted, great "look and feel" piece. Thinking about the plot and all the historical inacuracies/inconsistancies with its own script will give you a headache the size of Texas. Movie: Dangerous Liaisons Genre: Drama Noteable Cast/Crew: John Malkavich, Glenn Close, Michele Pfeiffer IC Era/Year: 1760-1770 (France) Notes: For those who have not seen it, it is the quintessential film for the Jyhad. Add fangs and you have Camarilla: The Movie. Lots of good inspiration for Ventrue, Toreador and even Malkavian players. Watch it. Movie: Plunkett & Mcleane Genre: Action/Drama Noteable Cast/Crew: Johnny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Alan Cumming IC Era/Year: 1780's (England) Notes: A wondefully underrated film. Its like the "Odd Couple", only with more guns, theft, and period costuming. Highly recomended. Movie: Tombstone Genre: Action/Drama/Historical Noteable Cast/Crew: Kurt Russel, Val Kilmer, Dana Delany IC Era/Year: 1880's (America) Notes: Fairly historicaly accurate, and extremly entertaining. The Victorian Age, in the American West. Tombstone was pretty representative of boomtowns that thought they would become something more (kinda like Morgantown). Movie: Wilde Genre: Biopic Noteable Cast/Crew: Could not say. IC Era/Year: 1890's (England) Notes: I havn't seen it, but Clare assures me its good. The story of the focal point in the life of Poet and Playwright Oscar Wilde. I'll see it soon or have her write a bit more about it. Movie: Bram Stokers Dracula Genre: Horror Noteable Cast/Crew: Francis Ford Copola (Director), Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, Wynonna Rider IC Era/Year: 1899 (London & Transylvania) Notes: A gothic melodrama masterpice. If you havn't seen it, gouge out your eyes. Or watch it. Either way. Movie: Interveiw with the Vampire Genre: Horror Noteable Cast/Crew: Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Stan Winston (SFX Make-Up) IC Era/Year: 1700's to Present Notes: The book sucks, but the movie is worth owning. A wonderful "both sides of the coin" movie with Lestat as the vampire who *ahem* embraces what he is while Louie whines away eternity pining for his lost humanity. Movie: Maverick Genre: Western/Action/Comedy Noteable Cast/Crew: Richard Donner (Director), Jodi Foster, Mel Gibson, James Garner, Graham Greene 2 IC Era/Year: Late 1800's Notes: Wonderful updating of the classic TV show. Mel Gibson plays the title role as a card shark who would be the ideal candidate for the embrace by several clans. Jodi foster is a Ravnos' Ravnos. Not a good reference for the "feel" of the era or horror, but great for any gamblers out there... |
