| Twisted Fate - Chapter 2 - by ziggy Jason kicked up the speed on his bike as he flew down the highway. Faster, he needed to go faster. Though it wasnt his style, he felt like he was running from something. He didnt understand why Brendas leaving was affecting him so much. Sure theyd come to an understanding and a mutual respect by the time the trial had ended but that didnt mean they were best friends or anything. He needed to let go of this. She was gone. It was time to focus on Courtney and making her happy. But, of course, in a way - that led back to Brenda, too. At the airport it had been on the tip of his tongue to tell her that she was the reason hed been able to open his heart back up. Brendas way of embracing life and throwing herself into love, damn the consequences, had been somewhat contagious. Seeing her defeated look, though, for some reason he had choked back the words. He didnt believe for a second that her leaving was all because of Jax. There was something more behind it. Maybe it was Sonny. Jason shook his head, he was supposed to be thinking about Courtney. He smiled as the first drops of icy rain fell against his skin, remembering something Brenda had said about always being left in the rain. He wondered briefly if this was how she felt. Jason sighed, didnt it always go back to Brenda? "Wheres Courtney?" Jasons heart plummeted when he walked into the loft and found his boss sitting on the sofa in the dark. He flipped on the light switch, not sure he was ready to deal with this yet. "If shes not here, then shes probably at Kellys." "Shes not. Carlys been trying to get a hold of her all day. Jason . . . weve been over this and I thought you understood how things are. You need to tell me now . . . are you and my sister planning on running away together? Is she already gone? Marco told me you were at the airport earlier . . ." Jasons gut burned with anger as he stared at Sonny. Ignoring most of the questions, he looked the other man straight in the eye. "I havent seen Courtney since last night. Yes, I was at the airport - but I was there with Brenda, not your sister." "Then where the hell is Courtney?" God, he hated the way Sonny totally sidestepped Brenda there. His anger subsided a bit when he noted the concerned expression on his friends face. "I dont know." Brenda turned her body to more fully face the blonde woman next to her. Oh, this couldnt be good. Jason had finally decided to take a chance on love. As far as she knew, he was heading to Courtney right now . . . and here she was on the plane next to her. What was going on here? "Are you okay? Youre looking awfully pale there." she said softly, after closer inspection. Courtney offered her a brief smile. "Its been a long two days." Okay, this girl was sitting next to her on a plane to LONDON and all she would offer in the way of explanation was "its been a long two days"? Brenda raised her eyebrows, wondering if mental illness ran in the Corinthos family. God knows that would explain some of Sonnys actions. Oh, what the hell- subtlety had never been Brendas strong point. "Courtney? Would you mind telling me what the hell youre doing here?" If this little school girl was leaving Jason high and dry, Brenda decided right then and there that she was going to tear her a new . . . ooh, calm down. "Things arent always what they seem, Brenda." Yep, she was going to lose her temper. She glanced toward the window and counted to ten. "Look, Courtney. Jason is willing to give up everything for you - do you know how much Sonny means to him? Hes going against his best friend, his brother . . . for YOU and here you are all high and mighty sitting here next to me talking in riddles!?! I think you have some explaining to do, girlie!" Brenda turned back around to fix Courtney with one of her most intimidating glares . . . only to find an empty seat, with a stewardess standing there looking at her like she was crazy. "Are you okay, maam." "Uh . . ." she looked down the aisle and saw nothing. "Yeah, Im fine. Im sorry. I was talking to the girl sitting next to me. Apparently she didnt want to hear what I had to say." Which seemed to be another Corinthos trait. "Maam . . .youre the only one sitting in this aisle. And out of respect for the other passengers . . . can you please keep your voice down?" |
