Call Me Cupid - Chapter 3 - by ziggy

"Could you at least wait to make your phone call until Im safely out of the room?" Brenda demanded. She couldnt believe that he was choosing now to call someone, while they were stuck there in bed together. The sooner she got to Jax, the better. She really had no time to spare.

"Ill close my eyes while you run to the bathroom." Jason offered, not putting the phone down.

She knew that was the best she was gonna get from him. "Promise you wont peek?"

Jason rolled his eyes. "Im not going to look." He turned his head toward the wall and in a flash she was jumping out of the bed and running towards the bathroom. Jason turned his head back too soon and caught a glimpse of her smooth backside. Whoa! He quickly shut his eyes, but the image was burned into his brain. Okay. Focus on something else. Sonny. Why was Sonny not answering the phone? He hung up before the machine could pick up the call. The last thing he wanted to do was try to leave a message about how he was naked in his boss ex fiancees bed and he couldnt remember how he got there. Hed have to go over there. "Brenda, dont open the door! Im getting up!" He called.

From inside the bathroom, Brenda rolled her eyes. She toyed with the idea of opening the door just a crack to aggravate him, but then the sooner she got rid of him, the better. God, what a way to start a morning! She felt her anger rising at the thought that Jax actually believed she had slept with Jason. Examining the hickey on her neck, she briefly wondered if Jax did have cause to be upset. Surely she would remember if she and Jason had sex. He was extremely well endowed and that wasnt something you could forget. Her eyes widened as she looked at herself in the mirror. Where did that thought come from? She cursed herself for grabbing a peek at her estranged husband under the covers. Okay, Brenda, think. What happened last night? Her mind drifted back to the events of the previous night. She remembered accepting an invitation to dinner, against her better judgement, with Sonny and Carly. Sonny had come over to Jasons penthouse while she was packing and issued the invitation himself. Something about Carly wanting to celebrate the end of the trial and the end of Brenda and Jasons marriage. Brenda remembered thinking it strange when Sonny had mentioned that Carly was cooking the dinner herself. Carly never cooked. Though, Brenda did have to admit that dinner hadnt been half bad. But the last visual she had was sitting down on the couch with a piece of chocolate cake. After that . . . nothing. She hadnt had any alcohol. Just Carlys cooking . . . . Carly . . .Brenda inhaled a slow, furious breath. She would bet anything that Carly knew something about what had happened.

Jason slowly picked up items of clothing that were strewn on the staircase as he made his way down. A brief check out the window told him that his bike wasnt outside nor was any other mode of transportation. So then how did they get there? Oh man, this reeked of a setup. Who would do something like this? Skye popped into his head. She hated Brenda for stealing Jax from her. She wouldnt hesitate to pull a stunt like this. No. Not, Skye. She couldnt have pulled this off. Jason went to the phone and made quick call summoning the car to come get him then sat down on the couch, his mind still racing. His thoughts kept going back to dinner at Sonny and Carlys. That in itself was odd. Sure, hed had dinner at the Corinthos penthouse countless times . . . but Carly had willingly invited Brenda. And she had made an extreme effort to be . . . well, not nice but yet still something more than polite. He needed to find out what was going on. If Carly had anything at all to do with this, he needed to talk to her and find out her reasons.

Minutes later he saw the car pull up and he walked over to the bottom of the staircase. "Im leaving! Oh, and I found our clothes!" He couldnt fight the grin when he heard Brendas cursing in reply. The grin faded when he realized they were going to have to talk about what might have happened. And if he knew Brenda, the minute she had opportunity, she was going to run after Jax and try to talk to him. Then who knows when theyd get a chance to be alone. Jason sighed, there was only one thing to do. He picked up her clothes, wadded them into a ball and walked out the front door with them.
