Call Me Cupid - Chapter 2 - by ziggy

Sonny turned to his wife, anger keeping his spine rigid. He couldnt believe that Carly had cooked up a scheme like this. If it had just involved Brenda, then sure . . . hed believe it. But on many occasions Carly had professed that Jason was her best friend. Why would she do something like this? And more importantly, why . . . why when he stumbled onto her drugging Jason and Brendas food did he not put a stop to her crazy plan? Why did he help her to carry it out? He wasnt sure whether his anger was directed more towards Carly or himself.

Carly swallowed nervously under the intent stare of her husband. She hated that he was upset with her. And God knows she wasnt looking forward to dealing with Jasons wrath, either. Oh, she wasnt kidding herself into thinking that Jason would never find out that she had everything to do with this. Jason always found out. And Brenda? Well, Carly could handle Brenda. She just hoped that once everyone calmed down, they would realize that what she had done was for the best. The way she saw it: she was killing a lot of birds with one stone. Sonny didnt want Jason and Courtney together and Carly knew that although Jason would break it off, Courtney would have trouble letting go . . . unless she believed that Jason had something going with another woman. Voila! That problem solved. Maybe Courtney and Sonny could even salvage their relationship. Obviously Brenda wasnt the first woman that Carly would have picked for Jasons indiscretions, but she couldnt afford to be picky. Even though she was very vocal in her dislike for the other woman . . . truth be known, she did admire Brendas loyalty to Jason throughout the trial. There were worse women out there . . . take, Elizabeth. Then there was Jax. God, how she hated him. Brenda could do better than that simpering idiot. Carly mentally rolled her eyes, why did she have the feeling she wasnt even going to get a simple "Thank you"?

"Sonny, you havent said a word to me since last night." She began softly. "Do you want me to tell you why I . . ."

"No." Sonny cut her off. "I dont want to hear your reasons again. I still cant even believe you . . . what were you thinking?"

Carly knew better than to answer that. After all, hed just said he didnt want to hear her explain. "You know what, Sonny? This may not be such a bad thing. I mean, if Brenda and Jason are together then you wont have to deal with your misguided need to protect her all the time! Shell have Jason!! And who knows . . . maybe they could even be good for each other."

"Let me go! I have to go after him before he gets the wrong idea!" Brenda repeated anxiously, tugging on the sheet.

"Before? I think its a little too late for that, Brenda. He found us naked . . . together . . . in bed. And if you take that sheet, youre gonna get embarrassed." Jason said referring to his own natural state.

"Dont flatter yourself!" She grabbed a tissue from the box on her bedside table and threw it at him. "Here. Use this."

Jasons eyes narrowed again as he made a final pull on the sheet and she came tumbling back into the bed. He had a perverse urge to show her that a tissue would indeed not cover him, but he resisted. He did not want to go there with her. He had more important things to worry about . . . like where in the hell were his clothes? How in the hell did he end up in her bed, in her cottage . . and where did that hickey come from? "Youre so intent on going after Jax? Run outside naked. That will definitely get his attention. But the sheet stays here."

She glared at him, sparks flying out of her eyes. Jason was almost certain he could see smoke spilling out from her ears. Damn, to see her angry was a sight to behold. If he wasnt caught up in this mess himself, he would probably enjoy what her furious state was doing to her. "Well, Im not gonna lie here in bed with you all day, no matter how much you might want that." She told him.

"I might want that or you might want that?" He nearly chuckled at her scream of frustration. "Weve got more important things to figure out. Like how we ended up here . . . where our clothes are. Cause unless Im wrong . . . I dont see any of your rags floating around here either." He said, staring pointedly at the open closet which was empty.

"Rags? Rags! Ill have you know . . ." she started off on a rampage.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Jason reached for the phone on the table and punched in some buttons.

"Who are you calling?"

"Shut up, Brenda!" He heard the other end start to ring.

The ringing of the phone brought an abrupt end to Carly and Sonnys bickering. Carly looked at the phone on the coffee table and swallowed hard, "You want to get that?" She asked Sonny.
