Call Me Cupid -  Chapter 1 by ziggy

Her head was throbbing. She was enveloped in darkness. It was too dark. She turned her head in the direction of her bedroom window - she could usually see the pale light of the moon shining in. Nothing. Oh, God. Her whole body ached. Her arms screamed out in protest as she raised her hands to her eyes. Something must be wrong with her eyes. Her fingertips reached their destination and she sighed. Her eyes were still closed. Slowly she pried them open and the bright sunlight blinded her, making her quickly shut her eyes once again. Groaning, she rolled over on to her side and her hand made contact with solid body. "Jax, what happened last night?" Brenda groaned, eyes still shut.

The body next to her slowly began to stir to life. It felt like someone had taken a sledgehammer to his head . . . he couldve sworn hed heard a female voice talking to him. But, no, that couldnt be right. He hadnt had a woman in his bedroom in quite a while now. Surely hed remember something like that. Maybe hed had too much to drink the night before. Ah, but he couldnt remember drinking anything. The last thing he remembered was sitting down for dessert at Sonnys penthouse with Sonny and Carly and Brenda . . . . Brenda! His eyes flew open, then narrowed at the woman lying next to him with her eyes squeezed tightly shut. What in the hell was going on?

"What in the hell is going on here?" Didnt Jason just think that? Surely he hadnt said it out loud. No, there was someone else in the room. His gaze wandered to the doorway and he groaned at the sight of an outraged Jax standing there.

"Jax? Why do you sound so far away?" Brenda mumbled into the pillow.

"Maybe because hes standing in the doorway." Jason told her sardonically.

Brendas eyes flew open to look Jason straight in the eyes, then they moved down to her hand on his chest. His BARE chest. She quickly snatched her hand away and jumped away from him as if shed been burned. She ducked her head under the covers to confirm her worst fear - she was as naked as the day she was born. Totally ignoring Jason, she looked up at Jax. "Uh . . . this isnt what it looks like . . . at all." She let out a nervous laugh. Surely Jax would realize the absurdity of the situation.

"It looks like you and Jason are in bed . . . together." Jax folded his arms across his chest and leaned against the doorway, awaiting an explanation.

"Okay, well . . . maybe thats the way it looks, but thats not . . . nothing happened." Brenda said firmly, wracking her brain trying to decipher whether she was telling the truth or not.

"And that would explain the hickey on your neck? You know, youre something else, Brenda . . .you told me over and over that I had nothing to worry about with Sonny. Well, at least you werent lying about that. No, instead it was Jason you couldnt bear to let go of!"

"That is ridiculous . . . and you!" Brenda turned to Jason in a fury. "Why are you not helping me tell Jax nothing happened? And why are you still here?"

"All I got is your word nothing happened and Im not so sure you remember." Jason shrugged. "And as to why Im still here . . . my clothes seem to be missing and as much as Jax might enjoy it, Im not into flashing him."

"Ive heard enough." Jax turned on his heel and Brenda could hear him rushing down the stairs.

"Jax! Wait! Wait a minute!" Clutching the sheet to her, she started to jump up to run after him but Jason pulled her back down on the bed. "What are you doing? I have to go after him!"

Across town, Carly sat on the couch in the penthouse watching her husband stare out the window. "Do you think theyre awake by now?"
