I am sure you're wondering, why a phoenix? The phoenix is the most recognizable symbol of rebirth. To me the phoenix symbolizes many things including reincarnation. The phoenix can symbolize the death of your old life and the beginning of your new one. The phoenix can also symbolize reinvention. Reinvention can be exhausting, however it can be necessary. Sometimes people can forget their path, whether through a traumatic experience, extenuating circumstances, choice, children, divorce, and many others.
The phoenix is a reminder that it is okay to forget our path, and when we are prepared, we can rejoin it.
I was ordained by the Sibylline Order of Wicca on the 4th of September, 2004 as a 1st Degree Priestess, although I had been Wiccan for several years. I practice Eclectic Witchcraft, primarily with Celtic & Olympian deities. I am also currently learning the Anderson Feri/ Reclaiming tradition. This Order is being established to teach Witchcraft through an open forum to all who wish to learn. One of the most important suggestions you will receive on your path, is to read. Read history and archeological books in addition to books on Wicca & Witchcraft. Just because you read it in a magickal book, does not guarantee that it is true. Steer clear of books that say Wicca is an ancient religion. Wicca has many beliefs that may have been followed by ancient cultures, however the theory of ancient Wicca by Margaret Murray has been discredited.
