Script
1st scene - You can see the clock on the wall. It´s midnight.
It´s the dinning-room (the table is set for two, with candles burning). Andreia is impacient and waiting for her husband Pedro. It´s their 7th anniversary and she´s going to tell him that she´s pregnant.
Pedro enters the room, very happy (it´s also his 6 month anniversary with Phil - his wife´s hairdresser and lover, as well as his…)
Pedro - (in a good mood) Honey… I´m home!
Andreia - (annoyed) And just where have you been?! Candles almost burned completely out, me waiting, turquey´s cold, potatoes too, and the wine is like a rock for being so long in the fridge! And you… (pointing at Pedro), YOU, yeah you… where have you been?! Do you know what day and time it is?
2nd scene - Pedro is now at the window, imagining Phil cooking dinner. Suddently he realises he´s with Andreia.
Pedro - (in a tender way) Your birthday present!!! Oh, I´m sorry! I forgot it at the candy shop… I´m relly sorry sweetpea!
Andreia - (furious and about to cry) Birthday?!… What are you saying?! That´s just next month… birthday present!!! What are you thinking?! Today, TODAY it´s our 7th anniversary and you can´t even remember a simple thing like that! You don´t love me anymore…oh!… (cleans the tears from her eyes and takes a more aggressive tone) Admit it!!! You were with someone… you have someone else…Say it!!!
Pedro - (surprised and apprehensive. Starts pulling his shirt collar) Sweetpea… we… we have to talk! Sit here!
Andreia - (calmer than before but taking an aggressive tone) I´m glad you´ve said that, cause I also have something to tell you!!!
3rd scene - They´re sitting in 2 chairs next to each other and deciding who´s going to talk first. Finally…
Andreia - (in an arrogant tone of voice) Well, I hope you have the sense of feeling when telling me whatever that is that you´re going to say, cause… (a short pause) I´m pregnant!
4th scene - Pedro rolls his eyes and falls on to the floor. He has passed out.
Andreia - (despising him) Great… exactly what I needed!… Weak!…(Andreia pats him on the face till he wakes up)
5th scene - Pedro wakes up and sits on the chair.
Pedro - (nervous and still recovering from what he has heard) Sweetpea… Andreia… I… haaa… You´re right! I have someone else! There!… (relieved)
Andreia - (turns red of anger and is almost shouting) I knew it! And you´ve been with her all this time, right?! Was it?! Ha?!
Pedro - (surprised) Her?! Who´s "her"?! Andreia ...I´m bi… BI…hello?!! I thought you´d got it!... I was with him… (a sudden smile comes to his face) And today, curiously, today it´s our 6 month anniversary.
6th scene - Andreia falls on to chair, not believing in what she has just heard. At this point the door bell rings… it´s Phil. Pedro opens the door. Phil comes in fixing his wig.
Phil - (arrogant and heading towards Pedro and Andreia) Sweetpea… we´ve got to talk!
Pedro - (astonished) I have this clear impression of dèja vu…
Phil - (talks to Andreia but Pedro thinks it´s him Phil is referring to) I can´t handle this… I can´t be the "other" anymore! You have to choose!
Andreia - (surprised and nervous) Phil?!!… glup… Have I forgotten anything in the beauty saloon?!
Phil - (determined and glancing at Pedro) You have to knw the truth… we… we have an affair! There, I´ve said it! (looking at Andreia) Now you´ve got to choose. How´s it going to be???
Pedro - (embarassed, nervous and confused thinks he has to choose between Phil, the love of his life, and Andreia, his wife, plus the baby) I can´t! I can´t do that… she… she´s pregnant!
Phil - (surprised, in rage looks at Andreia in a glance) What?! You didn´t… You´ve betrayed me?!! Why? Wasn´t I good enough for you?! Is that it?!!…
7th scene - Pedro thinking Phil is talking to him and not handling the pressure runs from the room. While coming down the stairs he trips and falls dead. Andreia and Phil come down the stairs and check if Pedro is really dead.
Andreia - (very calm and smiling) It was better this way!
Phil - (astonished and taking his wig off) What?! Your husband, father of your child and, not to mention my lover, is dead and you say: good thing it happened?!!
Andreia - (very calm and determined) I have a confession to make!… Do you remember the last time I was at the beauty saloon… and …you know!…
Phil - (astonished) Yes!
Andreia - (a bit reluctant) Well… it´s yours!
Phil - (stunned, looks at Andreia finnally understanding that she´s carrying his son in her wumbe) Is that true?! So, I guess it really was better this way!…
