Aaliyah Dana Haughton
1979-Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16.
1986-
Made her stage debut at the age of seven as an orphan in the Gesu Catholic school production of "Annie." Aaliyah also appeared in the production "Hello Dolly" and was a big attraction.
1989-
At the age of nine, Aaliyah appeared on television's "Star Search," where she sang "My Funny Valentine," dedicated to her mom.
1991-
Glady's Knight, then married to Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson (founder of Blackground Records), invited Aaliyah to perform with her in Las Vegas. She was 11 years old.
1992-
Aaliyah was introduced to producer/singer R. Kelly.
1994-
At the age of 15, and with the help of R. Kelly Aaliyah went gold with her debut album,"Age Ain't Nothing But A Number".
1996-
Aaliyah released her second album "One In A Million." This album contained the number one single, "If Your Girl Only Knew", and after 10 months, the album was considered double platinum, spawning the hits "4 Page Letter," "Hot Like Fire," and "The One I Gave My Heart To."
1997-Aaliyah recorded singles for the "Anastasia" and "Dr. Dolittle" (1998) soundtracks.

1998-
Aaliyah performs "Journey ToThe Past" at the Academy Awards telecast, making her one of the youngest to ever perform an Oscar-nominated song in the production's history.
1999-
She had a Grammy nomination for the song "Are You That Somebody" from the "Dr. Dolittle" soundtrack.
2000-
Aaliyah starred in the movie "Romeo Must Die" and was given a Grammy nomination for the song "Try Again." She won the role as Zee in "The Matrix,"sequels and filmed the movie "Queen of the Damned," based on the novel by Anne Rice.
2001-Aaliyah released her third album, "Aaliyah" on July 17th. The first video single, "We Need A Resolution," was a hot single and my personal favorite.
A little over a month after shootingthe video "Rock Tha Boat," Aaliyah and her video team were tragically killed in a plane crash. Aaliyah life ends on August 25, 2001.
