DEEPEST APOLOGIES
30th-April-2002

I'm sorry that when you see me,
You feel nothing but disgrace.
I'm sorry that your hopes died,
In this so ordinary face.
I know I never lived up to your expectations,
Nor was ever able to handle the right situations.
I never did what I was supposed to,
But I'm sorry, there's only so far anyone can go.

I'm sorry that when you see me,
You feel nothing but irritancy.
I swear, I promise, I tried,
But all you had to deal with was annoyance.
I know I could never comfort you,
Nor pay back a debt the time it was due.
I never was much in the way of support,
I'm sorry, but no, this is no foolish retort.

I'm sorry that when you see me,
You see nothing but a life lost.
I'm sorry all I seem to be,
Is one great amounting cost.
I know I'm far from what you wanted,
Nor even that much tainted.
I never did things the way I was guided,
I'm sorry, I never found someone to confide in.

I'm sorry I never had the courage,
To free you from this sooner.
I love you.

I don't really think I was afraid of the pain.
In a spur of confidence I knew I could jump the bridge,
And in falling down there would be little I could do.
Panic maybe,
Shed a tear maybe,
If I had the time.

I promise you though,
As a warning,
I will always be near.

I'm sorry,
I love you.
