| I'm a homeowner!! Feels like I'm all grown up now :) My new pad is located in the small coastal town of Hercules (yes Eddie Murphy fans...Hercules! Hercules!) that's in the midst of booming suburban development. Since I'm on the coast, I'm centrally located to all points between San Francisco, Sacramento and the East Bay. Weather's mild which is great cuz I don't miss the desert heat of Walnut Creek nor do I have the damp fog of the city. There isn't any nightlife to speak of so thank goodness BART is an alternative to driving. Although, one SFesque restaurant in Pinole (Pear Street Bistro) offers a very a close cosmopolitan escape - and the mojitos aren't bad either. Shopping is very close...maybe a little too close. I've discovered the charming little towns of El Cerrito and Albany along Solano Ave which offers everything BUT impossible parking, aggressive transients, and crowds. A nice perk is that the local artist scene seems to be alive and kickin in this neck of the woods. So, check back periodically. I'll post pics of my home improvement endeavors. What's in the que you ask? 1) Paint the whole place - well maybe not the WHOLE place so a room and few accent walls have sufficed. 2) Pergo floors ---> check it out <--- 3) Shelving / Storage - DONE! 4) Update kitchen cabinets - umm, maybe not - just some nice door knobs will do 5) Window bench - DONE! Jan 04 Update: OK so maybe I was a bit ambitious in wanting to complete everything in three short months. And ya know, store bought, ready made stuff is sometimes infinitely better than what I had planned to make on my own. So what have I learned from all this so far? Finish my current projects and resist the urge to start new ones that are CONSTANTLY rolling around in my mind. I am happy to say however that I'm still at it and my power tool collection is growing quite nicely (argh, argh, argh). |
