I am proud to say that I am a CBA member. CBA stands for the Cold Blooded Alliance whose goals are: quote-" to promote proper care of herps through education, encouraging conservation, and encouraging changes in legislation to protect all herps." The CBA is a group whose main purpose is to educate the public about herp(reptiles and amphibians).  And because of these goals, automatically, another goal for the CBA will be to fight HSUS(Humane Society of the United States), HSUS actively works against all herpers. They are a group of ignorant people who know next to nothing about herps and they want to be Big Brother and dictate what you should keep and herps are not on their list of "approved pets". Fact is...none of them have never even kept reptiles and the only reason why they want to stamp out the herp industry is because like many uneducated people, they have a dislike of reptiles. The fact remains is with a few precautions, reptiles can make good pets. It just depends on the potential pet owners dislikes and likes when it comes to a choosing a pet. HSUS's printed and oft repeated goal is to kill the herp industry as a whole. As Bill Love said, "Their true bias was revealed when they tackled a sleeping giant, the whole herp industry." and he went on to say that if HSUS had just attacked collecting wild caught herptiles as pets and said that wild caughts were bad pets in general, those facts would be hard to refute, but when they decided to try to attack keeping of captive born herps...you get the idea...from that point on...you know that they really just have a bias towards herps. Also by saying that the american public "was not capable of keeping reptiles correctly(which is completely false), they have said the public is too stupid to keep herps as Bill said. HSUS has been given a chance to grow quitely and swiftly by way of money checks while staying quiet until now. Now they have quite a bit of power and money. So we, herpers and any other people who see the complete falseness of HSUS's statements, have to band together and educate, educate, educate! And also hit HSUS where it hurts, in their pockets! Stop sending them those big fat checks full of money. Ok, I've rambled on enough...below is a excerpt from the CBA's "About Us" section of their website in black and here is a link to the CBA site if you want to check it out. Cold Blooded Alliance
"The Cold Blooded Alliance (CBA) is an organization whose goals are to promote proper care of herps through education, encouraging conservation, and encouraging changes in legislation to protect all herps. 'What are herps?' you ask. Herp comes from the word herpetology which is the study of Reptiles, Amphibians, and Crocodilians and has come to stand for any of the animals which would fall into any of those categories by herpetoculturists (people who care for and breed herps), and herpetologists (people who study herps). The CBA was created to help bring your herpkeeping experience to its fullest potential, allowing you to share your knowledge with fellow herpers and become more involved with the conservation of these often overlooked animals. Though the keeping of reptiles and amphibians has gained momentum dramatically in the past few years, the care of these fascinating creatures is only just now becoming fully understood. Thousands of reptiles are sent to an early grave each year due to inexperience on part of the owner and millions die each year in the pet trade from cruel treatment by exporters and from being kept in deplorable conditions in many pet stores. We also aim to provide information for those seeking a herp as a pet. We want to make sure that all herps (reptiles, amphibians, crocodilians, etc.) receive proper treatment from their owners, and have a sufficient ecosystem in the wild. We are opposed to the cruelty of any animal, bird, mammal and reptilian alike, but we feel reptiles and amphibians are most in need of help. Due to myths, 'wives tales', and lack of education, there are many people who live in fear and hatred for the reptilian, snakes in general. Our goal is to further educate and help people see the good in these magnificent animals before they are gone forever. We feel the need for protection of herps is becoming vitally important as these creatures are becoming more and more popular in the pet trade. You don't have to be a herpetologist, private breeder, or even own a reptilian to be in the CBA; you just have to care enough to want to make a difference."
