I first heard Brookes song 'better'
just before Christmas 2003, and I can't say I loved it
straight away, however I absolutely loved her voice, it
rocked the boat something wicked. Then I heard
'lifeline'. Lifeline still makes me realise how lucky I
am to be where I am now. At the time (late 2003) my life
was alright, I had heaps of friends and was socialising
heaps, however I felt like something was missing, like I
was missing the point of life, which I didn't really
want to do. I needed a lifeline (go
the cheesy pun). I had become a Christian a few months
before, however I never really changed my life that
much, I never really felt like I had got the hang of it.
When I got Brookes CD, four songs changed that, and made
me see what I was missing out on. Indelible, Mystery,
Lifeline, and Arithmetic are still my sort of battle
songs, as well as a few Switchfoot ones. These songs are
the ones I put on when I feel like it's not going to
well for me. They help me recentre myself, and help me
back on track. Indelible and Arithmetic are such honest
worship songs, I cannot rate them more highly. Brooke is
such a light for God, and is so incredibly straight up
about everything, she sets a really good example of what
a light for God should be like. I know that everyone has
their weaknesses and areas in which they struggle
against sin, so i know that Brooke isn't perfect and has
stuff to work on with her relationship with God, but
from what I've seen so far, she is an amazing
person, and has done a brilliant job so far. Big ups. |
