Though it seems like an odd choice to some, Monks find that they fit into the SeeD life perfectly well. Coming from an ancestor worship culture that reveres gods who taught the Samurai to fight monsters, SeeD monks continue that tradition, providing their unique protective powers and polearm techniques to the world's foremost warriors. The Monk knowledge of the Spirit world lead to a partial restructuring of the Mage Specialist training curriculum, but Monks remain the masters of combining spiritual essence with deadly phsyical violence.
Because of their devotion, unusual among mercs, Monks tend to find themselves a bit set apart from their comrades. This tends to suit the slightly more asthetic lifestyle of a monk however, and there have been few problems with the inclusion of Monks in teams. Monks have turned out to be a fine choice for Squad Sergeants, as they tend to be very responsible and level-headed, without the kind of ambition that often causes problems between a commanding officer and her second in command. In addition to combat duties, Monks often make it a point to attend to the spiritual life of the SeeDs around them, always with the full cooperation of those invovled, of course.
