Peri first appeared in Planet of Fire, and remained as the 5th and 6th Doctor's companion for the next 2 seasons, where she was killed in Mindwarp. Peri is also my favourite companion, so expect this section to be somewhat biased in view!

Peri is a young American student studying botany (as far as I can make out). She is from a well-off family, and this has made Peri very forcefull, but rather immature. She does get a bit weepy at times, but at other times she is one of the Doctor's best companions as she never gives up, one example being where she defeated the Master in Planet of Fire.

Peri was killed at the end of Mindwarp, part of The Trial of a Time Lord season. However, the Master claimed that Peri had survived her ordeal and had gone to live with King Ycarnos, but we never saw her leave the Doctor. I personally refute this, as the two are not well-matched, and the Master has no reason to tell the Doctor the truth. Nicola Bryant also does not like this ending, thereby giving strength to the argument that is did not happen. (I hope)

Peri is a fantastic character, Yes, of course I am biased as Nicola Bryant played it well and wore little, but I'm only human! Still, she was a good companion, defeating the Master and being useful. Shame they got rid of her- but what an exit! (I am of course taking her death scene to be the real ending)

Nicola Bryant played the role of Peri from 1984 to 1986, her first role since graduating from acting school. Her accent is purely a tool of her trade. She holds a duel American-British passport, but lives in Britain. Nicola is perhaps the most well-known companion, mainly because of the number of glamour shots of her. She has recently reprised her role as Peri for Big Finish audio adventures. Nicola Bryant has also starred in: Blackadder's Christmas Carol, The Biz as well as the Doctor Who sketch: Dimensions in Time. Nicola has also taken part in numerous plays, including Twelfth Night.
