Leela, played by Louise Jameson.

Louise Jameson (Leela) taken during her time in Dr Who.

Louise Jameson (and me) taken in October 2000.

Leela was a savage, whom the Doctor took into his TARDIS in the hope of "taming" her. She proved to be a very useful companion, and with a warrior's instinct she could often sense things the Doctor took could not. Leela eventually left the Doctor to get married after the failed Sontaran attempt to invade Gallifrey.

Leela, she was the one who didn't wear much yes? And people wonder why the ratings were so high back then! Seriously, Leela was a good companion. Yes she didn't wear much, but she was very tough and screamed once (when being eaten!) The forerunner of Ace. Louise Jameson is very nice too.

Leela appeared in: The Face of Evil, The Robots of Death, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, Horror of Fang Rock, The Invisible Enemey, Image of the Fendahl, The Sunmakers, Underworld, The Invasion of Time, Dimensions in Time.

Louise Jameson left Dr Who of her own accord, although even up to the last day the BBC offered her the chance to stay. She has also liked to play strong women, and although Leela had a somewhat skimpy costume (Louise even had to add to it!), she was very assertive. Louise even managed to remove all but one of Leela's screams, which is quite a feat considering how much screaming a female companion is required to do in Dr Who! Louise Jameson has starred in many major television roles aside from Dr Who, namely Eastenders, Bergerac and Tenko. She has also starred in numerous plays, her next being in December-January 2000/1. She is due to star in a new BBC sitcom, if the BBC can be bothered to film it that is.

Yours Truly has met Louise, and I must say, she is a thoroughly lovely person. She is very funny, as well as being very chatty and down-to-earth. Thanks Louise, we all love you!

First picture taken from: http://shill.simplenet.com/dw/, second is taken by myself. Information on Leela is general knowledge, and information from Louise is taken from her appearance at Kulture Shock (Norwich), in other words, from my own memory!
