Jo first appeared in Terror of the Autons, as the Doctor's new lab assistant at UNIT, and lasted for 3 seasons. Whilst not as bright as Liz, she was still eager to learn and help the Doctor. She fought the Daleks and the Master, often standing up to them, despite getting captured too. Jo finally left the Doctor in The Green Death and got married.

The classic dumb blonde, she did at least wear a few short skirts! Still, she did put up a reasonable fight against some of the monsters, and whilst better than Liz Shaw, I really like the way the 3rd Doctor had of putting it when he met her: "Oh no!"

Katy Manning played the role of Jo Grant from 1971 to 1973. She has since starred in many TV roles, including: The Sweeney,Z Cars and Man at the Top. She has also starred in many plays, including: Run For Your Wife, The Removalists and How the Other Half Loves. She also starred in the films: Frog Dreaming and Don't Just Lie There, Say Something!
