PITTSBURGH SPORTS MURAL A TRIBUTE TO SPORTS LEGENDS |

The Pittsburgh Sports Mural was painted directly on the brick wall of a 24 story office building at 500 Wood Street Downtown. The Sports Mural was completed in 1992, featured Pittsburgh Sports Legends: Mario Lemieux, Roberto Clemente, Joe Green, Jack Lambert and Bill Mazeroski. Judy Penzer was the artist who designed this sports mural, she was a passenger on TWA Flight 800. On May 25, 1997, at approximately 3:50 PM, 100 pounds of explosives were used to demolish the office building to make way for a new department store. |
