Baseball Cards (1955-1973)

Roberto Clemente played 18 Major League Baseball seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1955-1972). During those 18 seasons Topps Cards Company produced 19 regular Clemente's cards. Clemente also appeared on nine of Topps "League Leader" cards between 1961 and 1970. These cards are more affordable than Clemente's regulard cards, and they often include other baseball Hall of Famers.

1998 Series I and II Baseball Cards

The Topps Company, Inc. has announced it will honor the memory of Roberto Clemente in its 1998 Topps Baseball set with a variety of card reprints and chances to win unique Clemente memorabilia. To formally announce its year-long celebration of his life, Topps took part in the Roberto Clemente 25th Anniversary Tribute at Three Rivers Stadium, which honored the legacy and accomplishments of the Pirates Hall of Fame outfielder on September 19, 1997. During the pre-game festivities, Topps officials presented Mrs. Vera Clemente with the first of 100 specially-made contemporary Pirates jerseys bearing Clemente's name, number and commemorative patch, with the rest to be given away to collectors as part of a special in-pack promotion.
Topps pays tribute to the 25th anniversary of Clemente's untimely death as it reprints all 19 classic Clemente Topps cards, from his 1955 rookie card through the 1973 edition. Every reprint features a special commemorative gold-foil stamp logo, and each of these cards will also be produced in the dynamic Finest and Finest Refractor technologies. Additionally, card #21 in the regular set will be a brand-new Roberto Clemente card.
Five Roberto Clemente Tribute insert cards have also been especially designed to honor the man who had such a profound impact on the modern game. Printed on mirror foilboard, these cards feature brand new color photography that has never before appeared on trading cards, as well as informative text on his distinguished career.
In addition to the 1998 baseball card set, Topps issue a set of four exclusive Roberto Clemente Commemorative Tins. Each collectible tin features a spectacular reproduction of one of four different Clemente Topps card (1955, 1956, 1965 and 1971). The front and back of each tin will feature the original design of a card front and back, respectively. Inside each of these tins is a hermetically-sealed, commemorative reprint of one of Clemente's 19 original Topps baseball card dating from 1955 through 1973.
