The night before the flight we let Maayan stay up late (till around 23:00). We got to the airport at 2:30 in the morning and Maayan woke up. He loved the new airport. He was part time zombie and part time just running around in all of the huge open space in the airport. We also bought him his first pair of shoes (New Balance - like his father's). בלילה לפני הטיסה מעיין נשאר ער עד מאוחר. הגענו לשדה תעופה ב 2:30 בבוקר ומעיין התעורר כאילו היה בוקר. הוא אהב את נתב"ג 2000. הוא היה חצי זומבי אבל מאוד נהנה לרוץ בכל השטחים הפתוחים של שדה התעופה. כמו ישראלים טובים קנינו לו את הנעליים הראשונות שלו בדיוטי פרי. |

He also loved the moving sidewalk (horizontal escalator/conveyor belt). In our stopover in Amsterdam he discovered that he can also walk on the moving sidewalk and became over enthusiastic about it. When we got to the end he just walked to the next one. After a few times, I didn't allow him to go again - so he cried a bit. הוא אהב את המסלול הנע. כשעצרנו באמסטרדם הוא גילה שאפשר גם ללכת על זה והתלהב מאוד מזה. הוא הלך עם הכיוון ונגד הכיוון. הוא כל כך אהב את זה שאנחנו חושבים לקנות אחד לבית. |

The flight wasn't full, so we had a three chair row to ourselves, with Maayan in-between us. Once in while we had to take him on a walk in the aisle. When he was tired - we had to hold him, but when he wasn't tired - he walked by himself - stopping at each row, holding both hands on the chair and giving a huge smile to the person in the chair. He would stay with that big smile till the person smiled back. He was so cute. Of course, I had to pick him up when he stopped next to a sleeping person, since he tried to wake them up when they didn’t smile back. הטיסה לא היתה מלאה ולכן היו לנו שלושה כיסאות לעצמנו. מדי פעם היינו צריכים לקחת את מעיין לטיול במסדרון או שהוא היה מסתובב בעצמו, עוצר בכל שורה ומחייך לנוסעים. |

Michal and Maayan spent a week in Berkeley with 'aunt' Shirly who filled Aba's place while Moran was in a workshop in Santa Barbara. We started with a walk around Tilden Lake (not far from Berkeley) and in the botanical gardens. מיכל ומעיין בילו שבוע בברקלי עם דודה שירלי שמילאה את תפקיד האב בזמן שמורן היה בקורס בסנטה ברברה. התחלנו בטיול מסביב לאגם טילדן ובגנים הבוטנים. |

We continued with some friends to see the Monarch Butterfly wintering. המשכנו בטיול עם חברים לראות את פרפרי המונרך חורפים. |

Maayan was mostly interested in the telescope tripod. מעיין התעניין בעיקר בחצובה של הטלסקופ. |

The flower pots were very nice, but Maayan thought that they needed some rearranging. אדניות הפרחים היו מאוד יפות, אך מעיין חשב שצריך לסדר אותם מחדש |

In Chinatown we got a bit tired so we stopped in a Chinese restaurant and refilled with egg rolls

We finished the day watching the sea lions in the bay סיימנו את היום בצפיה על אריות ים במפרץ. |

But the sea lions were not big enough – so we went down the coast to Ano-Nuevo park to watch elephant seals. אבל אריות הים לא היו מספיק גדולים בשבילנו אז נסענו דרומה לאורך החוף לראות פילי ים. |

In the last day we went to Berkeley marina. ביום האחרון הלכנו למרינה של ברקלי |
