The Blue Mosque in January, unfortunately, so it's overcast a bit.  Beautiful at night!
I'd like to continue my tour of Turkey...
In and Around Istanbul
Erin & I (pregnant with Alex) on a Bosphorus cruise her first year here.
Erin took this lovely photo (and most of the photos on this page) of the stained glass inside the Blue Mosque.
The Koc campus, where we live, is about 30-40 miles away from the heart of Istanbul, where you'll find the Bosphorus, the Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque, among other historical sites.  It's nice because we don't have to deal with the downside of living in a big city and trying to raise small children, but it's close enough to get to when we want.
I recommend you click on any of the pictures to see all the details in a larger version.  Also, click on the underlined words to the left for links to web sites that offer historical informaion.  (Just click the 'back' button n your computer to return to this page.)
The Grand Bazaar!  LOVE shopping here
The Bosphorus as seen from the trans-continental bridge.
We caught the boat for our cruise of the Bosphorus at a place called Beylerbi (this is the view from there).
The fortress on the Bosphorus
The Hagia Sophia
Ok, so I believe this IS a professional photo.  But it's so beautiful and exactly what Taksim looks like around Christmas time.
Artwork depicting JC in the Haghia Sophia (uhh, not Julius Caesar, but the BIGGER JC).
This is not technically Istanbul, but it's taken less than 5 miles from our place.  It's the local resevoir and there's a restaurant overlooking it where you have this view.
