Hurgada November 2002.  Magawish is a beautiful resort which  lies on the Egyptian side of the Red Sea and has about 1200 m of beach. Tempered by the breezes from the Gulfs of Suez and Aquaba,  temperatures are mild in winter and blazing hot in summer. One of the real highlights is Scuba Diving in the area. There are many well-preseved and accessible shipwrecks not to mention the stunning coral reefs.
An this is one of the two swimming pools in the resort Its has only been built in the last year. Fancy a dip!
And this is the Noor boat with Lena my Swedish Dive Instructor loading her up with all the gear for the day.
Diving here is fantastic. Shallow undersea playgrounds.  We dived to about 12 m and the coral was incredibly diverse and healthy.  The sealife is not timid and lionfish, butterflyfish, angelfish are plentiful and very friendly,  we even spotted a  rare Eagle Ray.

Lena and I
The legs are a bit wobbly trying to suport 6kg of weights around the waist, an oxygen cylinder and a BCD, we manage to hold the pose for 30 seconds.
The Red Sea is a piece of heaven on earth.  The area has strict conservation rules to protect the coral and delicate sea life.

Somewhere out there  are Hammer Head Sharks and spiralling Barracuda shoals.

One day I hope to be lucky enough to swim with the Dolphins of the Red Sea these intelligent and gentle animals are not at all alarmed by the sight of human invaders in the shape of scuba divers.

Alas it all must come to an end, but even at night the area is beautiful with a  stunning red sky.
