Accommodations in Nevada City and Grass Valley area
After joining us on our special day, some of you might wish to take advantage of the three day holiday weekend to get out of the hot Sacramento area for a couple days (especially in August!  Ugh!!).  The Foothills are cool and serene and can be very fun!  Historic Nevada City and Grass Valley are fun for shopping and dining and tours of local mines.  The stars up in the hills at night are gorgeous and worth staying for!

Of course if you want to go home, the drive from Nevada City to Sacramento is approximately 1 hour so you will make it home before nightfall.  Please don't drink and drive!

Don't forget close-by Reno for some gambling and shows or spectacular
Lake Tahoe.  And there are several other lakes close by that are great for some camping and/or boating.  We have found some links to hotels in the Nevada City and Grass Valley area as well as some gorgeous camp sites.
The hotel where the ceremony and reception are being held is a great place due to their lovely scenery, location and price.  It is walking distance to to downtown Nevada City and a hop skip and a jump to Grass Valley.  The Northern Queen Inn
Hotels - We suggest going to a travel website  for the rates and names... there are too many to mention and rates are always changing.  Keep in mind it will be a tourist weekend so it will be a bit crowded.  Definitely make reservations as soon as possible!!!!!!  Try Yahoo Travel, www.Expedia.com, www.Travelocity.com, www.CheapAirlines.com

**Update on Hotels (6/15/02) - they are booking up quickly so please call for a room as soon as you can to avoid being left without one.  The Northern Queen is booked solid for the holiday weekend, but we can recommend The Holbrooke, The Courtyard Suites/Grass Valley and The Best Western Gold CountryPLEASE CALL NOW IF YOU PLAN TO STAY THE EVENING IN A HOTEL!  :)
Unfortunately, due to it being a holiday weekend, we were not allowed to reserve a block of rooms.
Campgrounds - There are tons of campgrounds throughout the Foothills and Sierras and not all have websites but a great place to find a selection is www.ReserveAmerica.com - just plug in your location and it will tell you all the surrounding campsites. there are some great lakes close by - Scotts Flat, Rollins, etc. - for fishing, camping and boating.
