Instructions:

  1. Place large circle stencil on the felt square and draw around it with a pencil or vivid.  Cut out the circle.
  2. Place small circle stencil in the middle of your felt circle and mark with a pencil dot the 16 marks around the outside and the 8 marks inside.
  3. Using the 8 marks inside the small circle as your guide, use a vivid and ruler to draw the lines to make a ‘Tic Tac Toe’ or ‘Noughts and Crosses’ grid.
  4. Snip a small hole (less than 5 mm) at each of the 16 marks you made around the outside of the grid.
  5. Starting from the back, thread the cord through the holes and tie ends together to form a draw string.
  6. Add ten markers (five of each colour) and pull draw string to close.

Other:

Thank you to the MOPS group that had this craft on display at the 2008 MOPS Conference.

The felt squares and cord were purchased from Spotlight.  The stones we used were squashed glass marbles, purchased from a $2 shop.

The provided stencils were:

1. A plastic plate to cut out the circle of felt, and

2.  A smaller cardboard stencil with markings for the tic tac toe grid and for snipping the holes in felt for the cord.

How it went:

The craft took about 20-30 minutes.

We had really good feedback from the mums:

o      It was a fun craft that the mums that think they are not ‘crafty’ or ‘arty’ could achieve.

o      A good craft for doing and chatting.
