History
LIGHTYEAR have been kicking up a fuss for about 3 years with their 7-piece carnival of melodic up-beat ska chaos, pop tunes and the most dangerous brass section on the planet. Not your typical ska-punk band, Lightyear inject punk, hardcore and pop influences into their songs and have rapidly become one of the most dynamic, enjoyable and unpredictable bands around. The Lightyear live experience is a bouncing, energy driven orgy of jumping brass, diving vocalists, more than frequent nakedness, quite astonishingly stupid tattoos but underpinning all this are the infectious tunes that leaves every foot tapping. If you dare to bring this chaos into your home Lightyear are have recorded their debut album 'Call of the Weasel Clan' which was released on the 8th of October. Despite not taking themselves too seriously, Lightyear are committed to the independent ethos of punk rock, and have gained fans and a reputation in the underground scene for their riotous antics. Following on from their first gig was in their hometown of Derby at the Victoria Inn in 1998, the band have been on tour with such scene luminaries as Goldfinger, Capdown, Save Ferris, Less Than Jake, Nerf Herder, The Peacocks and Link 80. They also played at this year's infamous punkfest 'Holidays in the Sun'(alongside The Business, Hard Skin and many more), even a support at chart toppers OPM's only London club show so far. Nothing can stop Lightyear, who are constantly gigging despite blowing up 3 tour vans in the space of 12 months, and on their way to your town now.

Thank you Mike Davies for introducing me to another great band, and their British too! It was very difficult to get the album, I had to get it off t'internet, then I realised (after I had bought it) I could get it from Household Name Records for 5 cheaper. Sorry about the lack of pics, they are hardly on Top Of The Pops. The new material is amazing and a great and fun live band. Sadly Lightyear have broken up! :'( Hopefully it's not the last we've seen of the Lightyear boys. I will have to defo see them on their last tour.
