| Kindergarten: We are still getting acquainted and starting to learn songs that explore loud and soft. The students will sing "The Milkman", "Hello There" and "The Grizzly Bear". We will also march to loud and soft music and play instruments.. First: The first grades are learning the school song. A link for this can be found on the home page of the Moosic Room site. We are also learning the difference between steady beat and rhythm. We will sing "Ready to Learn". Second: We are learning the School Song.We are learning dynamics and the words piano and forte. We will sing "Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho" with dynamic variations. We will also learn about rhythm and steady beat using the song "Go Around the Corn, Sally". We will listen to an interview with a tap dancer. Third: The students are singing the school song each week. We will begin music this year with the song "Hello" which says hello in 8 languages. We are now working on dynamics using the words piano, forte, mezzo-piano, and mezzo-forte. We are using dynamic variations in the song "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" Fourth: We are singing the school song in each lesson. We will compare two songs of similar themes: "Soldier, Soldier" and "Lazy John" We are also beginning to explore meter with a sea shanty "Haul Away Joe". Fifth: We are singing the school song in each lesson. We will begin the year learning the 50 states in alphabetical order with the song "Fifty Nifty" and the history behind the "Star Spangled Banner" We shall learn more songs about America in the weeks ahead. |
