Star of Stripes Pin

• 1 1/4" wooden star [Forster� Woodsies� Too � size "M" star]
  
• Pattern for Star of Stripes - click here, then print directly from your browser
• Satin ribbon, 1/8" wide, 7 inches long � one each of red, white, and blue ribbon in dark, primitive shades
  
• Acrylic Paint, Delta Ceramcoat�: Maroon, Antique White, Williamsburg Blue
  
• Antiquing Medium, Plaid� Folkart�: Apple Butter Brown
  
• Satin Varnish, Delta Ceramcoat�
  
• 1" metal pin back
  
• Sewing thread: dark blue
  
  

1. Basecoat front and sides of star Antique White.
   
2. Paint Blue field. Paint Maroon stripes. Paint side edges with corresponding colors.
   
3. Using stylus, dot Antique White stars on Blue field.
   
4. Apply antiquing medium with sponge brush. Immediately remove excess with soft cloth.
   
5. Coat with varnish.
   
6. Stack three satin ribbons atop one another, with red on top, then white, then blue. Loop ribbons in half and cross in an "x" at 1 3/4" from cut ends. Keep colors in order and fan out ends slightly. Use needle and thread to place 1 or 2 stitches through ribbons where they cross; tie off.
   
7. Use glue gun to attach ribbons to back of star and to attach pin back horizontally over the ribbons.
