Winter On Great Moose Lake
If you're looking for a quiet retreat from the rest of the world for a week or a weekend, consider Great Moose Lake.  The cross country skiing, the nature watching, the snowmobiling or ice fishing is as good as it gets.  Nearby, accessible by snowmobile, is a great hill for tubing.
Finally got a fantastic snowfall on the first day of March, 2005!  The snowmobiling was great, the plows came by shortly after the snowfall came to an end and the kids got to go tubing, a great finish to Feb vacation.
The winter of 2005 has been a pretty mild winter thus far with the snowmobile trails being spotty at times, but the lake has been a fantastic place to get out and play on the snowmobiles.  That picture on the left was taken on Feb 5th from the access trail on the west end of Great Moose Lake.  Also, plenty of good ice fishing to be had right out front of the house.
Winter on Great Moose Lake is just as beautiful and quite a bit more peaceful than summer life.  If you're looking for a quiet place to get away and get in touch with nature, this is the place.  The above photograph was taken after a small snowfall in early January 2005 just before sunset.
Still waiting for a serious snowfall here on Great Moose lake (as of Jan 10 2005)
