Visitors Photo Album
We spent Christmas at this BEAUTIFUL home on the lake and stayed from 12/20-12/30/04.  There are not enough words to describe how lovely, warm and inviting this home is!  EVERYTHING we needed to feel as if we were in our own home was provided.  The furnishings are 1st rate and the view is unbeatable!  John has definitely put a lot of thought into making sure the guest is comfortable & entertained (adults, as well as children), and believe me, you will be!  This is truly a property you won't want to leave, but once you do, can't wait to return to!  Additionally, John is a wonderful person who made us feel welcome and is as warm & inviting as the home itself!  Thank you again John, we will be back!  Jacqui and Dave Loring
Dave and Jacqui stayed at the house for Christmas of 2004, you can see that Santa Claus did not miss the house on Christmas Eve (taken around 4:00am) and the boys invading on Christmas morning.  In the lower left, speaking of invasions, note the alien that they caught staring through one of the skylights.  In a twisted bit of irony, Jacqui was excitedly looking forward to a Maine white Christmas, well, it rained part of that week, and they got snowfall in their native Texas, go figure!  However, they did get to see some of the white stuff toward the end of the week.
We wanted to vacation in an out-of-the-way location and we got it!  The house is very nice and comfortable.  it is also well-maintained.  The view from the deck and from the loft in the house is magnificent.  The lake is the bluest blue and the surrounding hills were spectacular.  If you are a kayaker, the lake is great to go out and explore.  If you are in need of some shopping areas, Freeport is only 90 minutes and Bar Harbor is about the same.  And you have Walmart superstore (with lobsters) only 20 minutes away in Newport.  The year-rounders are friendly and will stop and chat.  And yes, we should rent again in a heartbeat.  Oh, yeah, what the owner says about the darkest night skies is absolutely true.  The stars are beautiful and if you are lucky enough to get a full moon over the lake, make sure you have your camera!  Bill and Dee
Bill and Dee stayed at the cottage the last week in October 2004, and as you can tell from the pictures, if you're hearty enough to get yourself outdoors when the temps are in the 40's and 50's, there's much beauty and serenity to be found all around you.  On the bottom left, that's Bill pulling up to the shore of one of the many islands with his lunch packed.  I recently found out that one of the nearby islands is owned by the lake association and comes with picnic tables for this exact purpose.  That's a brand new two man kayak from Old Towne that Bill's anchoring up, newly available for your stay at Great Moose Lake.
