Aurora's caught on Film...
Aurora's are one of the coolest natural phenomenon that you're likely to see at some point.  Back around Halloween of 2003, there was an enormous amount of sunspot and flaring activity on the suns surface, and since Aurora's are caused by the release of the suns ionized plasma into the Earth's magnetosphere, whenver there's alot of solar activity, an aurora is likely to follow.  This photo is a single 45 second exposure taken at Bedford's Joppa Hill Road farm the night before Halloween 2003.
Caught this aurora the night of July 24th, 2004.  The funny thing about this aurora... I was out on the square at the mancamp and enjoying a neat moonset over the water, and lo and behold, as soon as the moon was down, out came a brilliant aurora.  What this is indicative of is how much moonlight drowns out even a powerful aurora.
My first Aurora!  The night of Sept 7th, 2002 the heavens simply errupted into greens and reds like nothing I'd ever seen before.  I snapped off about 40 pictures that night, and for the most part, it was a learning experience in terms of figuring out how to catch an aurora on film.  Fortunately, I did get a few keepers.
