Great Moose Lake's access road
I've had enough inquiries about the access road that it probably deserves its own page.  When I mention the access road, most people have visions of tourain that only a 4WD hummer can handle, not the case here.  The road is maintained year round and plowed by the town after all snowfalls, typically within an hour or two of the snow stopping.  During the winter its a good idea to use 4WD or 2WD with good snow tires, but many year round residents commute in and out daily with 2WD.  The above picture is typical of what you'll see in the winter time and can easily be driven on in 2WD around 25mph.  Please note, once the spring thaw stars, typically sometime in March or early April, this road should only be driven with a high riding vehicle with 4WD as the road develops large ruts and can be icy in spots.
Access road in the regular season, this picture was taken at the end of October.
