The Veil Nebula
The veil nebula is all that's left of a star that went supernova about 6000 years ago.  The entirety of the veil nebula covers a vast expanse of sky within the constellation cygnus spanning almost the width of  full moons!  Under absolutely ideal conditions, this nebula can be seen with the naked eye as a smoky wisp in the southern wing of cygnus the swan.

The blue in this photograph is emission from O-III and the red/pink is from Hydrogen Alpha emission (H-II).
