REMINISCENCES of SAINT MIKHAEL of CALIFORNIA

Michael  ... was also active in New York.   He was a relation of the moving company family.
From "Bishops at Large", a seminal work by Canon Peter Anson chronicling the activities of episcopi vagantes, "wandering bishops", we have

"Christopher C.J. Stanley, ... on November 12, 1960, gave the Gnostic Catholic Church its first bishop in the person of Michael Augustine Itkin." (p433).

This is the only substantive reference to him in this book (which is well worth a read, if you can find it).  When he was active in New York, he used to make a living by secretly ordaining Protestant clergy who were in doubt as to the validity of their Protestant ordinations.
I have this from soneone who knew him there, who was then a Lutheran pastor and who was made such an offer by Michael.
