On February 1, 2003 at 8:00am Central the U.S. Space Shuttle Columbia was in atmospheric descent over 30 miles over the state of Texas when it broke apart into pieces scattering twisted metal and it's crew all over Central and East Texas.  The explosion of the Columbia was seen by the world instantly as we all looked at the site in disbelief.

We live less then 120 miles from where the accident took place and there was a piece of the Shuttle found less then a mile from our home.  We were home that morning and felt the explosion as it happened.  It shook our home.  We live less then 30 miles from Fort Hood and it is usual occassion for us to have this happen.  We thought nothing until Grant got a call from work saying that he needed to turn the television on and stay near the phone.

We pray for those families that have been effected by the tragedy of this accident and hope that they will one day soon have closure to the loss of there loved ones.
